Post by: G1zm0 on May 04, 2008, 06:52:28 pm
ive got a gt fore machine im converting to mame and was wondering there is to coin counters inside the coin door one for cash in one for tournament cash or something, they are in a gray plastic housing and i presume they are connected to the coin switch on the pcb, is there away to reset these back to 0, and also the "coin  switch" its just a push switch that goes to pcb can i reroute that to the credit in on jpac and the  test switch can i put that to  tab or f2? prob i can as it got 2 wires 1 might be signal the other ground, but the thing stumping me theres a pc type psu in the cab, do i remove that completly or is it any use for anything? the final thing is the speakers, theres a volume up and vol down push button in cab, do i reconnect these to the volume button on my sub? if so the sub ive got has a rotart pot switch how do i get it to work it?#

thanx for any reply

I've got a gt fore machine I'm converting to mame and was wondering.  There are two coin counters inside the coin door, one for cash in and one for tournament cash or something.  They are in a gray plastic housing and I presume they are connected to the coin switch on the pcb.  Is there away to reset these back to 0?  Also the "coin switch", it's just a push switch that goes to pcb.  Can I reroute that to the credit in on the jpac And the test switch, can I put that to Tab or F2?   Probably I can as it has 2 wires; one might be signal the other ground. But the thing stumping me os, there's a pc type psu in the cab, do i remove that completly or is it any use for anything? The final thing is the speakers.  There's a volume up and vol down push button in cab, do I reconnect these to the volume button on my sub? If so, the sub I have has a rotarty pot switch.  How do I get it to work it?[End translation]
I'll skip the whole grammar lession thing, but I think you either have to manually roll the numbers over on your counter by either disassembly or just hitting the "credit" button.

I'm not too familiar with the JPAC, but I wouldn't use "Tab" since that gets you to the MAME in-game menu.  The test switch is typically used for the individual game's settings/menu (like extra lives, timers, damage dealt).

The power supply is used (in my cab) to help power the marquee lights, coin lights and the arcade monitor via the transformer.

I assume the "sub" is your subwoofer.  The buttons I have only work on my CPS2 boards.  You'll need to use the computer to change the level of your speakers if you don't hack them or if you don't have some sort of separate volume controller.

YMMV.  If I'm wrong, someone else will tell you.

I would assume you'd want the test switch hooked up to F2. That's normally the button used in MAME to go into service mode (if the game has that available). That's how I have mine wired up, and F3 to the reset switch. (I don't have a JPAC though, I hacked a keyboard instead)

thanx for input guys, yes ive got a 5.1 sound system  the know on it is rotary, i read someware on the pots for the vol pot you can add a few wires to a switch and hold switch in to increase vol, failing that i would like a tut on hacking speakers, to mount vol on the buttons and add bigger speakers to it ( i assume more power is required for bigger speakers?)
