Hello All,
A few years ago I have been to an entertainment center called Jillians and they had a bowling simulation game there called Hyperbowl. I was very facinated with the game and my wife and I played it for a VERY long time. Since then I always wanted one for my home game room.
Doing a bit of digging I did find out that the game is Windows based and wouldn't need to run through Mame....you can use a standard PC. Thus that would also go to day that any standard video projector with VGA capabilities could also be used.
The last part of the picture would be the creation of the trackball which does appear to be based on a full sized bowling ball.
From what I gather, Hyperbowl was developed through Microsoft and was even distributed through their Plus package for Win XP. They no longer support the product. However, I don't want that version I want the actual arcade version. Ironically, the Hyperbowl site is also inactive and the game is no longer being made.
So that now leads me to believe that somewhere the game should be downloadable of the web.
My two questions are this:
1) Where can I get a copy of the full arcade version of Hyperbowl ?
2) How would I construct a huge trackball the size of a bowling ball? I do understand that bowling balls can be obtained without the holes drilled and I even found some on Ebay. But the big question is how to make a cradle for the ball and now to read the rotation so this way the computer can understand it. I am going to assume that the best way to tackle this is to look at a tracking ball in a standard mouse and enlarge the mechanism to accommodate a full size bowling ball.
Finally I would like to know of other good bowling games that I could use that could benefit from a huge trackball like this. It would have to be an arcade based game though or something similar of high quality that can run from a PC (or the use of a real arcade PCB).
Any ideas or input I would truly appreciate.
Thank You,
Geo

George, Any luck finding it??? I bought it directly from Hyperbowl.com. When I try to run it now, I get a WebCops protection error telling me my key was used on a different computer. Well, YEAH.... that WAS five years ago.... I do not have the same machine now. I am DYING to play this again. Any ideas?

Unplug the network when you try to launch the game. Perhaps it will just go on if it can't check the license.

Did you buy the CD or the download. I bought the download, and as soon as I got the installation instructions, I contacted the company to get the CD instead. I didn't want to deal with a key. I then took a disc image of the CD and have the disc image on my PC in my cab, so I never have to swap CDs. Great game, BTW, one of my favs in my cab.
