Title: Grid Wars Help
Post by: urbecrisch on May 03, 2008, 01:54:15 pm
I tried searching various forums but I've had no luck.

How do I configure Grid Wars to use my dual analog U360's?

I know both JOYS are recognized by windows and working through U360 software but when I try to configure them in Grid Wars options the only controller I can get to work is the Left JOY.

I've tried everything I possible can in the options-config screen but I cannot get the left JOY to move and the right JOY to fire.

Anyone out there who can help me out?

I've been trying to work this one out myself.  The best I've come up with so far is to set the righthand joystick to act as a mouse, turn on autofire, and it seems to work... well it's kind of spastic really, but playable.

I think a great idea for a utility would be some kind of axis collector doohickey, where you could just pile joysticks on top of each other to create a single gamepad device for windows to see.  I have no idea how to write such a thing, however.

How do you have the right JOY act as a mouse?  Which config menu can you do this to?  Do I use the dual analog config or set up another?

Set your righthand U360 to act as a mouse in the U360 mapping software.  As far as how to set mouse control, Gridwars has a "controls" menu does it not?

three threads and a search and i missed them.

nickg, the link posted is for geometry wars. in grid wars there is no configuration for joystick and mouse that i can find.

i'm having the same issue as the op. only one joystick is available at a time.

spacejack could you please elaborate on how to configure this in gridwars. i set my right joystick to mouse, but can not find how to move with the left joy and fire with the right.

hybrid, dual anolog, mouse, joypad. what am i missing?

space fractal do you have access to the latest source, mine gridwars version is 5.4 april 19, 2006?

and this configuration works fine in mame with robotron

thanks.

Argh!  Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I did get Gridwars working.  I had a whole slew of such games going at once and now I think gridwars wasn't the one I got to work that way.  I shouldn't have spoken so definitively.

I just checked gridwars now and yep, it's not the one.  Sorry for the false hope.  I can't get very far with it at all, since I'm still using my Ipac for the buttons.

grid wars has a configuration as well, and I have set it up successfully using the player two U360 as a mouse and the player one 360 as keyboard.

for grid wars
settings-->controls:
select hybrid
then --> configure controls
select: keyboard - aim mouse relative

Then set up your keys and mouse settings in ultramap.
If you want faster aiming use xpadder and turn up the mouse acelleration..

space fractal has modified version 5.4 to support dual analog sticks(2 ports)

works great with dual U360 in analog mode.

Yep the original used only one port, but could use 2 sticks (etc if you inserted a PS2 dualshock controller using Adapter).

I just  noticed that today, so I added a another control method. Try it out.

Otherwice post a new posts in that thread nuka1195 linked to.
