Title: Can't disassemble my joystick from the control panel
Post by: onespriggan on May 02, 2008, 09:37:14 pm
Hello to all,

I am trying to take apart the joysticks from my control panel.  Not sure what the brand is, but there is an 'IL' logo on the bottom.  The control panel was taken from a 2 player SNK neo geo machine.  It has a standard bat shape top but I can't seem to take it off.  Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

thanks

there should be an E clip on the bottom of the shaft, pop that off (sometimes it takes a flat screwdriver), then remove the actuator from the shaft (pull hard) and then the shaft should pull out from the top

awesome, that worked.  thanks!  Do you know what brand the 'IL' might be and if they are any good?  They seem rugged enough.

Industrios Lorenzos (or something like that). They make half of the sticks people refer to as "Happs" sticks. If it was in a Neo Geo then it should be the old version of the Happ Ultimate or Competion (likely with a Shiny handle), which is a durable joystick that isn't exactly known for being the best for actually playing games (they favor the diagonals). They are good for fighters and Neo Geo games in general but are poor for the more precise classic titles and darn near impossible to properly play dualjoy games like Robotron with.

For all around gameplay I'd suggest replacing them with either Happ supers or Perfect 360s.

If you want to verify exactly which one you have check the happcontrols.com website and compare your sticks to the mounted/exploded views of both the Competition and the Ultimate.
