I am about to build a MAME cabinet. I had a very old P90 PC with only 16 MB of RAM that I had hoped to use. After installing Windows 98 and Mame32 the performance was poor slow start up of game, choppy sound and graphics (kind of expected). I'm going to go buy a PC - ebay or something, but wanted to know what the standard harware I should use for Mame32.
Processor P II, P III ?????
RAM - is 128 MB ok
I plan to play Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, and Frogger on this machine.
Any specs on the hardware would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

i was about to wire my p2 300 up to mame but than my comp craped out on me so i decided WTH ill go all out.
i just finished buying all the parts for my new machine yesterday i ordered a k7sa mother board with amd athlon xp1600 processor 512 megs of ram 40 gig hard drive 350 power supply dvd rom and fd drive.
total= $440
my machine is gonna be used for all games so i was a little eh picky on what to use, for you a p2 300 would be enough to run those games and quite a bit more.
what would be best is, take how much your willing to spend and look for decent parts you can afford and you will be able to build a comp way better than what you could buy one for.
ahve fun ;)

I would get a computer as fast as you can get. If money is an issue, try running the VANTAGE emulator on your old P90. http://www.mameworld.net/pc2jamma/
