Title: Star Wars Upright Value?
Post by: dgame on April 29, 2008, 05:43:07 pm
How much is a good condition Star Wars stand up cabinet worth? It looks okay and was maintained by an experienced arcade service person.

The following has been done:

It has had a new fuse block put in, the "Big Blue" cap was replaced in the power supply's transformer assembly, the power supply's PCB has been totally overhauled with all new caps and rectifiers then adjusted to spec. It has had an LV2000 lo voltage replacement installed on the monitor chassis as well as a complete cap kit and deflection transistors and the power switch has been moved to a more convenient spot within the coin door.

How much would you pay for this? I am going to look at it in person soon. Advice?

Thanks!

How much does he want?

Considering that the controller alone is often one of the Holy Grails of arcade controls... if this is a fully functional machine in good working order some people would pay dearly for it.

It's worth whatever you're prepared to pay to buy it....... If he wants more than you want to pay then don't buy it.

A good condition one is worth quite a bit because a lot of people want them. That one is not a great condition one. Those graphics on the panel and the yoke are not original. They've been replaced by ones produced a while ago by the no defunked company "Classic Arcade Graphics" There's a fair amount of rust showing on the metal parts and the monitor looks very odd..... exactly what is that gauze screen showing at the lower part of the display....... correction, it's a reflection of the speaker panel.

Can't really see the condition of the side art on it, but I suspect it's not perfect. If it is then that's probably been replaced too. The cab is a little bit battered not mint but not so bad as to make it a none sale either. The marquee looks to have some damage on the lower edge.

Be careful with this one... It doesn't look like it's exactly what he's claiming it is. I'd be checking the work he claims has been done if I were you. When a monitor on one of these goes wrong, they're damned expensive to put right. take somebody with you that knows what they're looking at.
