Title: Anyone watch the Star Wars Deal or No Deal last night?
Post by: shardian on April 29, 2008, 09:16:56 am
Being that I was once a hardcore SW nerd, I felt obligated to watch. It was pretty good too. As a bonus, all of the models were in Slave Leia garb for the second hour.

So did anyone else catch it?

I cant believe they dragged it on for 2 hours.  I switched to it during commercials of other shows, and made sure to catch the arrival of the Golden Bikinis.  Now THAT was a sight.  Wow.  I assume the dude won?

I didn't start watching until the last few minutes of the first hour. Maybe that's why I enjoyed it now that I think about it. The few minutes I saw Carrie Fischer was kind of creepy. I was in the kitchen and my wife said something along the lines of "The lady who played Leia is on there, and she is kind of molesting the contestants husband." :laugh2:

I was also a little disappointed because the model named Anya wasn't on there. Her and the big 'fro girl in the back row are the only two models I could name, and they are both gone apparently.

I haven't watched that show in a while.  I pretty much gave up on it when they started doing all this gimmicky crap, like a Star Wars episode.  I think Deal or No Deal has officially jumped the shark!

From what I saw, the second half was definitely more entertaining, as the dude was far less annoying than the woman.

I wonder if some of the contestants on there dont script some of their speech, its so terrible. "Like Yoda says, No Deal, I say!"  What?  Yoda never said that, nor would he ever say that, its not his speech pattern.  I need to be careful before I go off on another Star Wars tirade.

PBJ - The point is obviously the models, and watching the greed of the contestants destroy that which they had hoped to obtain.  Stretching it out to two hours long is just appalling though, its a half hour show...

I never got the point anyway.  There was no strategy, there was no tests of knowledge or physical abilities.... no split decision making.

The show is the next step in our evolution towards the future in the movie "Idiocracy".

Have you seen American Gladiators too? The obviously pre-fed lines the contestants say before the event starts are painful to the ears. I suppose it is just an NBC Studios thing.

I usually skip the first half hour of each episode. During that time, everything is the same. And it is evil fun to snicker at a person who turned down $200k, only to knock off the top case and cost themselves over $100k.

yup... its a little pathetic that I tuned in... I agree 2nd half better... and it didn't hold my attention... except I felt a little sorry for the woman contestant when she started to cry about star wars.

corny, but what else could it be really... other than just that... corny.

...or a Holiday Special?   ;)

I didn't see it but it seems Deal or No Deal (and every modern game show) throws a hundred gimmicks into the mix to hide the fact the game itself gets dull and repetitive.  Joker's Wild never never had to pull that crap.

He's been selling out this franchise since its inception, we were all just a lot more willing to buy it when we were kids.

Also, you may want to read this (http://blogs.starwars.com/abelgpena/35), concerning your Star Wars on ice idea.
