Title: updating mame
Post by: blub50 on April 28, 2008, 08:10:06 pm
Hey everyone,
I haven't been on in a while, but I'm still working on my MAME project. I'm an old guy, not computer savy, but trying. My nephew set up a dedicated computer for my project , installed the software, and games for me a couple years ago...I play it often, but still trying to figure out the best options for my cabinet. I need to update my software...I'm running MAME32 0.102.  I'll need to download the updates to disc then install in the gaming computer, as it has no internet hookup.
My question is what generation of MAME do I start with on the updates...I'm lost here...any help will be appreciated...thanks

My advice, without an internet connection, is that unless there is a specific need that you know of (ie some game that you want to play regularly just became playable), dont upgrade.  Because you will have to deal not only with new mame binaries, but changes in the romsets from that far back, which can be a huge hassel if you dont have internet.
