Has anybody on here tried this piece of homebrew and had success? I've been at it all day, and while I've got all the files in all the right places (the emulator runs and recognizes the rd file and .d64 files), I cannot get any games to play! Help please, if you can!

I have no experience with the homebrew you mentioned, but most need to have a DLDI patch (specific for your R4) applied to have them work on the card. Have you done this?
-
I did actually - the firmware for the card is supposed to "auto patch" these days, but apparently it did not work. ...because when I used my patch program, the thing started working.
Now the bigger issue - determining which C64 games actually work with Frodo. To this point, NO LUCK.

Here's a video of an early version of FrodoDS (v0.3) running on the old GBAMP firing up some old C64 favorites. It seems to be drag and drop.

Thanks for adding the video link. I agree, it appears to be just place in correct folder and play....but again, no luck yet on compatible games with Frodo. Having to try them out one at a time, just going to be slow going I guess!

After countless hours, I finally got the program to work. Key elements are to leave ALL files in the RD folder...it doesn't matter if Frodo DS is on the root of the SD card, but everything else needs to be in the RD file.
If you can find it, use Frodo DS 030507. So far, that's the most steady version I've found. Then, using notepad, open the .fpr file. Scroll down and remove "Maniac mansion"...just leave the area past that equal mark blank. Scroll a little further down and set 1541 emul to TRUE. Save the .fpr file. Patch Frodo DS using the R4 DLDI patch program.
When you put the SD card back in the R4 and start the emulator, go to the RD file, select your game, and hit the right side button. This will load the game in 1541 mode and pretty soon you're off and running!
Supposedly it works without 1541 emulation "on", but this being on is the only way I've gotten it to run at all. It's a little slow right now, but I have not tried adjusting anything else yet.
Hey, so it's a little slow...it's worth it to play Pogo Joe on the DS!

Final thought if anyone else here decides to try it - in the Frodo.fpr file, set the SkipFrame rate = 3.
Some may tell you it still runs slow, but when I tried that just now with the 1541 emulation on, I found that Pogo Joe ran at pretty much normal speed. Those of you who know far more about this than I do may find a way to make it run even faster, but it works nicely with these settings....and like I said, now I have a pocket version of Pogo Joe (a favorite from years gone by)!
