I was wondering if anyone has ever come across Printable sheets of sticker paper. I was wanting to print out some arcade game characters on a normal 8x11 sheet of a sticker type paper that could be printed on then cut out and peeled away and stuck on my control panel.
Thanks for any help ,

Very common at most stores. The Avery number for inkjet full sheet label paper is 08165. 25 sheets in a package.

There is clear label paper that is intended for Ink Jets. I've even seen clear sheets for making your own window clings. You can also get special paper for making water-slide decals.
No for the bad news. Most printers do not use opaque inks, so if you print on clear stock, and then stick them to something that is not white, it will effect the color.
The onl printers that I know of that use opaque inks were made by Alps and they were very expensive. They could also print in white, gold or silver if you bought the right cartridges. Alps does not make these anymore.

Just to add something to this.
The Alps printers *still* need to have the print overlayed onto white. The only way to do this with the Alps was to lay down a white "mask" and then print the colors over the top. This was a pain to do and the results were always less than spectacular.
In short, what you are looking for is the holy grail of people in the short-run decal business. They all had high hopes for the Alps technology, but it turned out to be expensive and hard to deal with. The technology is still used in one form in the rather expensive Roland professional signmaking products. These will do what you want, but still have some drawbacks, the biggest being cost.

http://www.magicinkjet.com (http://www.magicinkjet.com) has a line of pressure sensitive (adhesive backed) large format inkjet media. I've never used them but here's a few descriptions from their web site.
Improved! Gloss Vinyl DMVHA5 –
5 mil/127 microns
Universal high-gloss, flexible and durable vinyl
with permanent, adhesive backing.
Matte Cast Vinyl DMCVLA3 –
3 mil/75 microns 2,3,4
Conforms and adheres to rigid display and nonuniform
surfaces such as rivets and corrugated
panels. When used in conjunction with Magic cast
vinyl overlaminates DMCVHO2 or DMCVLO2,
may be used for warranted vehicle graphics or
promotional signage.
PSA Photobase DMPHA7/DMPLA7 –
6.5 mil/165 microns
Permanent, pressure-sensitive adhesive added to
a universal resin-coated photobase paper. Available
in gloss and low glare finishes.
HP makes a heat transfer media that might be useful
HP HEAT TRANSFER PAPER Q1739A
Description:
"A 7 mil, 140 gram media comprised of 4 layers: a base paper, a separation layer, a granular ink absorption layer, and a finishing layer. During the heat transfer the paper's absorption layer melts, creating a polymer-film and encapsulating the ink - then the base paper cold peels away easily.
http://www.charrette.com (http://www.charrette.com) carries both Magic (Intelicoat formerly Rexam) and the HP media. Figure on at least $120 for a 50' roll minimum.
Maybe one of them will work for sideart.
http://www.ijsupplies.com/ij-pressure.html (http://www.ijsupplies.com/ij-pressure.html) this place may have something that's more applicable to control panel art in 8.5" x 11"
A search for "inkjet adhesive media" turns up a lot.
