Title: How can I use mouse bottons as normal buttons in mame?

I got a slikstik and they connected player two button 4 and 5 to mouse 1 and mouse2 but mame isn't letting me chose these as button 4 and button 5 in mame config.  Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Might seem obvious, but have you enabled mouse input in your mame cfg?

that could be it.  I will have to check, if it is it.  I thank you, and will walk away with my tail between my legs.
