Before I get roasted like a marshmallow over a bonfire. Let me first say that I am not planning on purchasing a Nintendo cabinet and gutting it, but instead building a cab from scratch. I love the look and artwork of Donkey Kong cabinets, so I am planning on building a DK cabinet and using a fighter style 2 player CP.
I am also planning on talking the orignal DK bezel and marquee and changing it to the DK2 colors and painting the cabinet dark blue. I like the colors of the DK2, but not the side art.
I also know the common answer will be to build it on cardboard and find out first hand, but I saw this CPO and was wondering what the most amount of controls have ever been frankensteined into a Nintendo CP comfortably.
I'm planning on building this and then possibly doing something a little larger in the future (something with trackballs and spinners and dedicated joysticks) but I just love everything about DK cabinets
(im saw this cabinet and was struck with inspiration...http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=46448.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=46448.0))

It looks very nice. Its funny, but knowing the genres, the theme and layout are hard to put together in my mind.
How about mixing up the DK/fighter theme further and have a Mario and DK in fighting stances like Tekken or something? :D

I saw that CPO on http://www.localarcade.com/arcade_art/ (http://www.localarcade.com/arcade_art/)
I was just wondering how the heck this is even playable on a nintendo CP

No, this guy rapes classic cabs by gutting them and Maming them.

I am actually leaning towards just going with a 2 player six button set up....and then building another mame machine off of a lusid style design.

That is one of the worst things I've seen in a very long time. I'd love to have a dedicated Donkey Kong cabinet....and now there's one less in the world.
