I have no project log so i just wanted to show some quick pics of my progress of my pinball machine based off of psychotech's design.
its not even close to being done and still needs a great deal of sanding but oh well. 1 day at a time.
-
backpiece. angled cut.
-
Looks like you went with a much flatter/horizontal setup than your initial design. Was there a reason for the change? Did you test out the angles and heights for the (presumed) LCD that you will have in it? Just curious.
-
Are you going to rotate the LCD like the UltraPin? Seems like you'd get more playfield that way.
-
no i wont be rotaing the screen it is not widescreen so i wouldnt gain much.
the no curve design was a result of not being able to cut a curve to save my life. so i went with psychotechs design. i like the angled look of it and its perfect for pinball.
-
Im still wondering about contrast on an LCD viewed from that angle.... I hope you have tested that, and if you have, please expound on your test for the rest of us.

Looking mighty fine Kangum !!!
Don't forget to add the left/right & front nudge buttons though... and where are you going to place the speakers?
Keep up the good work
psychotech.
protokatie: Kangum's LCD angle should work just fine... That's about the best angle for a bartop/tabletop pinball IMHO. then again, what do I know..
PS. http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=67842.msg729531#msg729531 ..scroll down for bartop pinball pictures ;)
PPS. I'll be spying ..

Hehe. Famous last words of a bank account. I said the same thing and wound up with a router, circular saw, jigsaw, shopvac, random orbital sander, miter saw, etc. etc. :P

speaker placement ...hmm, depends on the size of your speakers and how all the other hardware will be installed.. Will there be a laptop or a "normal" PC inside? What about cooling ..fan(s)?
t-molding - mine is glued on. No routers were harmed on the project ;) Contact glue (contact cement, whatever) ...
PS. You really should start a new thread on the Project Announcements..
PPS. More pictures and info and we'll be able to at least suggest something...
have fun :)

your right i will try and scrape up enough content for a project log.

After everything that I had read on here and other sites about routers...I was a little worried about that part of my project plan. However, as long as you have a scrap piece or two to work on first...you should be fine. Obviously use the normal precautions...goggles, clamp down the piece if it is small...and don't think it won't hurt you if get stupid.
My router is one of my favorite tools now!
