Finally snagged a working JAMMA machine, something I've been wanting for a while. This one is also very easily switchable from horizontal to vert. Started looking at JAMMA boards and the selection is almost overwhelming, though a lot of the great shooters are already in MAME.
I'm sure I'll get some common stuff, but also wondering is somone could name any really cool unMAME'd JAMMA games?

Already have MAME cabs, so no use for the xx-in-1 boards. The old ones are actually worse than MAME with screwed up sounds, etc.

My JAMMA cab usually has Mr Driller 2 in it. Last time I checked it still doesn't work right in MAME. I also have a Soul Edge v.2 that I play fairly often. I cant' get it to run to a playable level in MAME. The computer in my MAME cab sucks, though.
There are a million PCBs out there, but with arcade boards it can be a pain to try and make a cabinet work with all boards. I found it made my life easier once I wired up the 4th button to my JAMMA harness (to the unassigned pin next to button 3 for each player). Now Soul Edge has that pin on it's JAMMA edge connector jumpered to the pin that the kick harness would connect to. That way I can have all 4 buttons for either Soul Edge or my 1-slot Neo-Geo from just the JAMME harness. I stole the jumpering idea from the Tekken 3 PCB pic on KLOV. (http://www.klov.com/images/10/1061147888.jpg).

This is excellent info, thanks... I never played Soul Edge in MAME, I might check it out now that I have the actual hardware. I've been busy with other stuff since picking it up, but I did take a quick look inside and it appears to have the harness for extra buttons laying below the control panel. I guess this is what is usually called the kick harness.

I enjoy this one taking coins, but maybe I'll also wire a hidden button like you say. On my first MAME cab, I put a little button in the bottom of the player 2 coin return.
I'm already kind of tired of this Soul Edge... I'm not big on fighters to begin with, but if I'm going to play one I prefer Tekken. I just told one of my buddies though, and he went nuts. He was in the Marines and there was a Soul Edge machine on base.
