I have a few steering controls (Spy Hunter steering wheel, Sega HangOn motorcycle assembly and a Star Wars yoke) and was wondering whether anyone knew how to attach these to an Xbox so I could play the XBox driving games with them. I mean instead of buying an off-the-shelf Xbox-specific steering wheel/pedals control assembly, I would like to use real arcade parts....
Any ideas or links explaining if this could be done?
Just curious,

The only way to do it is to buy an xbox steering wheel and hack it. Sorry man but if you want to do that then you are going to have to buy the wheel. :)

in theory you should be able to buy the happ usb interface or equivaent and hack the usb connection over to an xbox contoller connector using and extension cable. the xbox has native usb. Now i have not done this with a wheel but have done it with a keyboard.

You could do it by hacking a normal xbox gamepad and desoldering the pots on joysticks/triggers, then running the wires directly for the pot(s) in the sterring wheel to the where to pots hooked up in the xbox gamepad
of course this will only work properly if the pot(s) in the stering wheel are close to the same value as the ones removed for the xbox gamepad

Does an XBox controller have two potentiometers inside?
I saw a controller and could not be certain they had some pots inside.
Also, do the XBox pedals have pots in them?

it acually has 6, 2 for each joystick, and one for each trigger
by pedal do you mean trigger(the 2 "buttons" on the unserside of the pad)?

You should also be aware that the A, B, X, Y, Black and White buttons on the Xbox controller are pressure sensitive and send an 8-bit digital word back to the Xbox to tell it how hard it's being pressed.
The analog sticks and the two triggers have 16-bit resolution.

How would this help as there aren't drives for a keyboard or mouse in xbox games? For mame yes, but the poster never said he wanted to use mame he said driving games. :)

you guys keep saying that but i have no problem using my keyboard in a game. although its a pain it does work.
