hi im using a JVC 20" PAL TV set, it have te RCA on the front but no s-video so i am forced to use a cheapo scart socket to RCA and s-video i got from a local cheap shop ! i get a crystal clear black and white picture but obviously no colour, i can use the composite to get colour but you cannot read anything thats on the screen !
anyone got a quick fix i can do before monday?
thanks
edit: i just connected the laptop up to my 20" flat panel TV via s-video and its colour !!! then by adapter and its B&W !
Anyone know where i can get a good SCART to s-video adapter that does colour/how i can modify mine to do colour?
edit: i have sorted it by going into setup and turning the s-video via scart option on

Have you gone to the scart thread and read about scart to vga? If I were you I would pour my time into doing this instead of getting a scart to svideo. Then get soft 15khz running on your machine or get a arcadevga

i wonder if the converter was ntsc rather than pal .
if i'm not mistaken, the pal chroma sub carrier is at 4 mhz where ntsc/ntsc-2 is 3.579545 mhz.
the frequency difference would cause no chroma..(i.e. b&w pic)

Not all tvs do svideo over scart, and those that do need you to change the mode to svideo yourself, sometimes they show as 2 different inputs, sometime it will show as AV1(S) or similar.
If you dont have that, then there is no svideo in on the scart. Also loads of times one scart on the tv will do rgb, the other svideo.
