Title: Happ universal in 4-way -- anything I can do to make it better?
Post by: Ginsu Victim on April 16, 2008, 05:40:41 pm
Are there any steps I can take to make the Happ Universal better in 4-way mode? I hate that I can still hit the diagonals.
Any suggestions?

Someone (maybe Oscar) used to sell mounting plates that restricted the movement of the joystick for exactly this purpose.

I've been MIA for a few years though, not sure what the current best bet is.

Yeah, I'm well aware of the fact that Oscar used to....

I guess it's not a big deal. I was hoping for an easy solution, preferably the free kind. (Tweak something, etc)

Thanks for the reply, though.

Not too sure what you mean by Happ Universal Joysticks, but RandyT over at GGG makes these (http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=310).

As in the Happ Universal joystick (http://www.happcontrols.com/joysticks/universal_joy.htm). There's also the Ultimarc E-stik, which is virtually identical.

And, yes, I was aware of RandyT's restrictor, but I don't think it would be any better than the restrictor already on this (no offense to RandyT. It's just not what I need). Plus, I want to retain the ability to switch from 4-way to 8-way with ease.
