Ok, I hate it when I cant remember something... :banghead: So maybe someone will have the memory for me..
The Arcade game that I am trying to remember/figure out its name was a mid to late 80's game. What struck me about it when I was a kid was that the sprites were like 8x8 pixels. You were a ninja (it was two player with one tiny blue ninja and a tiny red ninja) and the game was a platformer (ALA SMB2 but without picking anything up).
Does anyone have any idea what this game was? Was it just an odd dream I had when I was graph-papering up sprites to code into my C64? Am I insane?(Dont answer that)

Ninja gaiden?
-
8x8 pixels? Not likely. That's like the size of the guy in C64 Lode Runner or Jumpman.
(Ninja Gaiden had rather large characters)
-
They don't look very big to me plus they fit the blue and red description.

Yeah, I know it wasnt ninja gaiden, the characters where tiny and one color (maybe 2 or 3 with a background clear color). Alos, unlike Gaiden, the screen could scroll in 4 directions. It was a simple but very fun game to play... (IE Very MAMEcab friendly)
Added: Efjayel, no. The GFX in this game were much simpler. When I say 8x8 pixels, I am not kidding. Like was said before like the size of jumpman.

Hmm, now I'm curious as to what game it is. 8 bit sprites makes me think of Robotron but that didn't have Ninjas.

More like 1-bit color depth and 8x8 pixels. But, yeah. I doubt this was a very common game. I only found it in one place when I was a kid. The only reason why it stands out in my memory was the small sprites, 4-way scrolling and very fluidic controls....

Was it one of these?

Ninja kid looks close to it, but the GFX were MUCH simpler... The other games you showed seemed to be top down and not platformers... And I am being serious about 8x8 pixel 1 bit sprites.. This was really an 80's cab. (maybe the game I played was an earlier version of ninja kid..?)

Ninja princess?

No, this was a strict platformer like ninja kids. No overhead view. Also, keep in mind we are talking 8x8 monocolored sprites and mid 80's GFX technology... (Not NES, master system, or SNES like GFX)
Im sure someone here will hit upon it... Oddly enough when that day hits, many of the "censored" sites will be inundated by DLs of it.. (Talk about a way to produce HYPE post facto! ;) )

legend of kage?

legend of kage?
No. That game uses multicolored sprites and isnt a (as far as I see) 4 way scrolling platformer. Also, the sprites are HUGE in comparison.... When I say single colored 8x8 sprites I am not kidding. Maybe this game is so rare that I only saw it because some space aliens were waiting for the next ninja starfigher to come along...
Tomorrow I will attempt to draw my memory in MSpaint or something... Someone here must know what it is.. Hell, now that I let the cat out of the bag I guess I am not the only one who is doing a :banghead: over this...
-
Seems a bigger than 8x8 but how about this one?
Samurai?

ugh no... This is a platformer I am looking for. I guess this is just impossible... I have only seen one in my life. Maybe it was a mod or something... :dunno
Think SMB2 like background GFX and platforming but with really tiny sprites that are only one color...
-
Kyros?
If you go to the maws website and check out ninja gaiden and scroll down, the page has a list of recommended games that are similar to the genre:

How about legend of Kage... it looks like the pixels are too big though....

Legend of Kage was already shot down.

You sure it was an arcade title? I can't think of any arcade game that would have a ninja comprised of 8 pixels. Sounds more to me like a port of an arcade game, maybe Apple ][ or C64?
What about Kid Niki? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kid_Niki:_Radical_Ninja

That was the first one I thought of, but the NES version, not the arcade. Never seen any of the other ports.
