The crap I used to watch as a kid...
Certainly I'm not the only person on this board who grew up in the '70's and remembers watching (and actually enjoying) the many adventures of Pippi Longstocking. My wife rented the 1969 (US realease 1973 or so) movie for our kids and we watched it last night. Wow, that was some bizarre ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---. The poorly dubbed english audio gives one the feeling that you're watching someone else's bad dream. This is without even counting the downright creepy relationship between Pippi and her absentee "Pirate" father. Those embraces lingered a bit too long if you get what I'm saying.
Still, I found myself laughing out loud at much of it simply because of the sheer obsurdity of it all. And the kids enjoyed it, which is what really counts. ;)

And I always thought the Wendy's restaurant logo and Pippi were the same girl.
-
I remember when I watched those movies as a little kid, thinking that Pippi was kind of cute. Whatever happened to that actress and I wonder what she looks like now as an adult.

Pippi Longstocking and Wendy both popped in my head about an hour ago for no good reason. Then I come in here and see this.
Weird.
Of course, I was thinking, "I bet Carrot Top looks like Pippi Longstocking or Wendy....as a drag queen."

Here's also a site with a current picture of her at age 48;

Who knew it would be Pippi Longstocking that would lure Ken out of the Monitor and Arcade forums? ;D

I think she's kind of a national celebrity in Sweden to this day. Not a bad looking older lady either, IMO.

Nice ascot lady.
Ok, so not really an ascot but sounds funnier than nice scarf.

I've never saw the originals. I grew up with the 1980's version. That girl was pretty cute too.

And today she still looks good.

Daggum!

Pippi #2 is WAAAYYYY hotter.
-
I watched the really badly dubbed FRENCH movie on tv in the 70's. They called her "Fifi brins d'acier" which roughly means "Fifi with bits of steel" (but I think the "bits" were referring to her braids).
-
That's funny...I've seen the 70's shows many times and I don't remember them being dubbed.

Hey, she's 48. I daresay most women that age won't age as gracefully.
I'd want to see pictures of her in her 20s.
edit: older, but not much.
