Title: having alot of trouble trying to get MaLa Tree working
Post by: itstonye on April 14, 2008, 01:46:05 pm
I am having a ton of trouble getting mala tree to work, i tried to follow the simple steps on byoac.wiki but no luck all i end up with is a black screen with very faint game list in the background , no art, no snaps, no nothing comes up, its really aggravating me. i can cycle trough me emulators and game lists even though its hard to make out but no luck with back ground artwork or aything else. i can't even figure out how to get the background picture i made to show up in the mala layout program
I'm sure im just overlooking something simple but once again i have to turn to you guys for help, and advice anyone could give would be appreciated. thanks in advance

ok i got something working, i did get my background picture to show which is a plus, but i can not get a background picture to show behind the list of "all games" in any emulator. Does anyone know how to do this?

fix your Z-order with the layout editor

Yeah, these are all layout problems, not tree problems.  Any artwork used in a layout (ie the background image for example) needs to go into a folder with the same name as that specific layout.  It sounds like this may be one of your issues.

So what's the tree for anyway? Seriously, I don't get the logic behind the configuration scheme of MaLa. Maybe it's because it does too many things?

Tree is for organizing lists of games and other programs.  If you use your MALA to do too many things you may appreciate quick branched access to some of the things versus scrolling a single list to find a certain thing.  You can navigate such a interface with common arcade controls.  A search bar function is faster if you have a keyboard or other alphanumeric interface handy, but I think one does not exist for MALA.

Really ?  Most find it was one of the better ones in this area.

Have you a specific question?
