Title: mdf/wood control panel
Post by: ablizno on April 13, 2008, 11:20:17 pm
what is the best way to attach a control panel overlay from www.mamemarquees.com to a wood control panel. I will be using the adhesive polycarbinate laminate overlay.

Paint the CP with primer first then a quick sanding. You should then be ok to apply the overlay to that. I did it once without a primer coat onto the raw MDF and after about six months it started to peel off.
Good luck!

Why plexi? Try to find anodised aluminium. Nice and strong finish, no oxidation and nice looks without the need for a transparant layer on top.

Because the artwork isn't exactly durable and if you have bare artwork on top of the CP it will certainly get marred, scratched, ripped, etc. after many hours of abuse.  It's MUCH easier and cheaper to replace the plexi than it is to replace the artwork.
