Ok so i haven't quite started working on my MAME cabinet yet, but when i do i will be sure to take pictures. Anyways, I plan on getting an old cabinet and placing an LCD screen inside. I will be using a 19" lcd computer monitor. The reason being i need to be able to rotate the screen because i will be playing a lot of shooters like guwange and Donpachi, along with the classics like bubble bobble and the Simpsons arcade game. The problem is that i dont know the best way about placing the monitor in the cabinet. I will be purchasing a bezel or creating one {please give suggestions that are cheaper than buying that expensive metal one from Happ} and i need to mount to monitor and allow the bezel to be rotated as well.
Will this work hold the monitor if attached to the rear of the cabinet:

also is it a good idea to use an adhesive foam strip to secure the monitor to the bezel.
Lastly what is the best way to go about getting a tinted glass piece for the front of the cabinet.

No suggestions? I dont want to buy it if there is a better suggestion.

I'd look in the project announcements section. There are a coupla threads that have peeps building cabs with rotating monitors. Check em out and see if it is something you want to do. :cheers:

Ok well the cabinet i am getting is an Arkanoid, it may have a working monitor, it may not, is there anyway i can test this with my pc?

I am using a 19-inch Happ arcade LCD which mounts to the front piece of the frame. The same idea should work with a computer monitor, only you would bolt it to the rear piece of the frame instead of the front. This system I designed for manual rotation, to keep things simple.
The bezel will be fairly complicated, because the user has to be able to reach down and grab some sort of handle and turn the monitor. So there will be a part that rotates with the monitor and there will also be a fixed part that surrounds it. It can all be made out of sheet acrylic though.
I would not use adhesive foam to secure anything, because you can't easily remove it later. I suggest Vecro as an alternative.
You can get tinted acrylic sheet from various companies. Check this. . .

Just found out that my friend whom works at JoAnn Fabrics can cut me a plexiglass peice for free.

any ideas on how to make this thing stop rotating 360 and instead stop at 90 [vertical]

I used roller catches. . .

This one holds it in the horizontal position. Of course there is another roller catch on the other side to hold it when it's turned vertical.
It's possible that magnetic catches would work even better, they wouldn't require as careful alignment.

I just have to say you did a brilliant job on that. I used those on my CP and it was a big pain to get them lined up right. I couldn't imagine trying to do it for a rolling frame like that.
