Title: Oscar spinner similar to Arkanoid mounting?
Post by: MrBond on May 27, 2003, 05:04:51 pm
Ok, got my arcade control panel fully assembled, wired, and fired up!  Now, the Arkanoid spinner works, but it seems to be a bit "stiff" and you can hear the grinding of the gears.

Does anyone know if I can find a great spinner that will mount in the same holes?

Just thinking...I'm not in a hurry to change it just yet.
Thanks!

If you are gonna deep six the arkanoid spinner, let BirdTales know as I think he's on the look out for a Arkanoid encoder wheel, FWIW.

Sorry no help on the mounting thing - i'd drop an email to Oscar though.

*shrug*

This may be a silly question, but if there are gears, have you tried cleaning/lubeing them?  Some white lithium grease might do wonders.

I'm just guessing but it appears an Oscar Model 3 with mounting plate would mount into the same holes or at least cover the ones the Arkanoid spinner uses. Email Oscar and ask.

Every Arkanoid spinner I have tried has that whirr sound and is a bit stiff. It's great for Arkanoid but I wouldn't want to play tempest with it.

rampy - Thanks for looking out for me.
