Title: Is this possible with Mamewah?
Post by: ldl on April 12, 2008, 11:05:10 pm
Can Mamewah display only one type of control
ex. joy8way           not              joy8way,trackball
I would really like to use Mamewah with my U360's but the different controls make this impossible.
I know about Mala, GameEx, etc. but for some crazy reason, I just love Mamewah.

Thanks.

You can make a custom filtered list on certain controller types...or do you mean there are too many types since Mame started listing multiple controller types per game (if applicable)?

Exactly as you mentioned.

Yes there are a lot, but I wanted to do it like this so that I didn't miss anything...I mean, if there is a game with controllers:

joy8way, trackball

If I were to only use the first controller, it would be 'joy8way'. So this game would not show up if you filtered out 'trackball' games, which I personally would not want.

It would be ideal to store each controller type seperately, so you could filter on any of them, but current limitations of Mamewah prevent this :(

However, you should be able to use the current system. I personally use these filters for different control panels, and don't find it too much trouble...it is not like Manufacturers where there are hundreds of different items in the filter list.

Edit: Just FWIW, there are 47 different controller configs in Mame v0.123.

With LEDBlinky and the U360 I handled it by selecting the first control. Most games in the controls.dat file have the joystick listed first. If not, you can edit the controls file or add the game to a custom config file for the U360.

I see...maybe I misunderstood.  I was thinking in terms of just list filtering, but perhaps what ldl is getting at is generating a commandline from Mamewah for ultramap to configure the U360?

So you may need to end up with something like:

c:\ultramap\ultramap.exe joy4way.ugc

If I am right here please let me know. I have a U360 but I have not used it yet so I am going on what I have read.  If this is the case then I could probably add a new feature to Mamewah to handle this...I will need to use this myself in the future.

Thinking out loud...

pre_emulator_app_commandlines  c:\ultramap\ultramap.exe {1input[input]}.ugc

I have my list filtered, but not all games get included.

If this can be done it would be great   :notworthy: :applaud: :applaud: :notworthy:

I have made a few other fairly minor changes recently, and my analog control panel is nearing completion so I will add this for the next release :)
