Title: Help - unwanted screen rotation during gameplay
Post by: puskarich on April 12, 2008, 10:12:58 am
I'm using Mame 0.120 (Oct 15 2007) .  As I have yet to get around to building a cabinet, I'm still playing the games using a keyboard.  The keyboard controls are set up so that CTRL and ALT are the "fire" buttons" and the directional arrows are the up/down/left/right.

If I press both CTRL+ALT and then press one of the directional keys, it rotates the screen in that direction.  As you can imagine, this gets frustrating during game play if I hit that combo by accident.

I've looked through the MAME options and haven't been able to find anything that may indicate this as a keyboard option.

Any ideas?  I tried searching the forums, but didn't turn up anything.

It's a feature of your video card.  CTRL-ALT-<arrow> rotates and if I remember, CTRL-ALT-UP resets it to normal.

My current computer doesn't have that, it has an application that sits in the tray that came with my monitor, so I can't give you the specifics.  Basically, you're going to want to poke around in your video settings (either an icon in your system tray that refers to your video adapter, or the Display control panel / Settings tab / Advanced button) and find the hotkey settings for rotation.  Change/remove them so you don't get that functionality any more.

Perfect!  That fixed it.

Thanks
