How much did it cost you? I might be interested in getting some too...
-
Where did you get the art from? Im having trouble finding quality images at a high resolution (i.e. 300+ DPI Per Inch).
Looks awsome! How much where they again?

$58 per side(57"x27") from www.mameroom.com
As for image,I found everything using google search. Then put the pieces together myself using photoshop.
Lookings really cool and all :o
As for any suggestion to anyone making sidart.
*ADD* lot of extra color...might look little too colorful on your monitor but looks great when you actually print it out. :)
Also, the sides has to be atleast 250 dpi...if your computer can handle 300 dpi then 300 is better.

answer above ! :)

Is it printed on quality stuff?
-
How do you attach it to the cab? Does it stay on the cab well? I'm considering getting it made like that for my cab.

You must've missed the four pieces of tape on each piece. They work for attaching to cabinet just as well as for attaching to wall.

CP doesn't do stuff halfway! He really does do quality... everything. I havn't bought anything from him yet, but he seems to be a VERY good seller!

Its printed on *regular* paper.
Yes very happy with the quility...but I am adding plexi glass for the sides too.
I am not sure how well it might work for other people who arent adding plexi glass for the side. :-\
But the quliity is better then kinkos most expensive photo paper.
Its like the folks at kinkos have no idea how to set up the printer or they dont know any of the setting. :P

Well,I will be attaching with spray adhesive.then cover the sides with plexi glass.
BUT if there was transparent tape thats like atleast around 27" wide then yeah that would work great except I dont think there is such thing ! :-\
-
price is pretty darn good
and i like how you've had it printed as a rectangle, and not the actual shape of the cab (good idea, just incase it comes back slightly the wrong size)
:P

Does anyone know of a site with high resolution scans/vector art of game characters?
I've spent the last couple days with Google trying different combinations of the keywords: vector, vector art, high res, high resolution, marvel, spiderman, snk, capcom, etc. with no luck at all. Most of the sites returned on the searches considered windows wallpaper as high resolution. The best that I've been able to come up with is Fighters Generation (aka GameGen.com), and while they have good pics, nothing was in sufficient resolution to scale to overlay size, let alone sideart size. I was able to find some of the art that Snaake used, but not at anything close to 300dpi.
Snaaake, would you mind checking your bookmarks or your history and telling us where you found the 300 dpi scans? I'd really appreciate it, and i'm sure others would too, since like I said I took your advice and tried Google for a few days now and I can't find anything.

Be REAL honest here...I never found very high end pictures for the sideart pieces...you probely found the ones I found.
I added lot of fliters,color,this,that...things worked out.
You can always have frosty redo the pictures in vector(for a small fee of course).
He did that hulkade artworks so he might be able to do something for you as well.
If you have the ba!!z then try redrawing in vector yourself.
Sorry..really cant help much :-\
arcade flyers are usually high resolution.
so you might wanna extract pieces from flyers. :)

PS:you are the one(Kostas Georgakoulias) emailed me?
just wondering ! ;D
-
No, I'm not the one who emailed you. Thanks for the tip about the flyers, I'll check them out.
I read Frosty's tutorial and have talked with him through email, he's a great guy and he's helped me tremendously. I picked up a copy of Illustrator and I started to trace the pics I wanted to use. Unfortunately my results were nowhere near as nice as Frosty's, which is to be expected I guess since he's a professional and I have absolutely no artistic ability at all. In fact, like most men, I'm somewhat colorblind, and that complicates matters also.
I also grabbed a copy of Adobe Streamline, a dedicated vector tracing program, and I've just started to play around with that, as well as the autotrace feature in Illustrator. So far I haven't been encouraged by my results. Maybe a little more practice and familiarity with one or both of them and I'll be able to produce artwork I'll be happy with.
Thanks and great job on the artwork.
