So, this seems odd to me and maybe someone can help me out. I use Mala and LED Blinky 3.6 with a Ledwiz. In my In my Mala menu I have my button lights flashing in the attract mode. When I shutdown my computer through Mala the buttons that happen to be flashing freeze and stay lit after my computer has completely shut down. They will continue to stay lit even though the computer is turned totally off.
I don't understand how power is getting to the ledwiz. I use powerstrip with my power supply plugged to the master. Also, when my computer is off and the button lights are still on they will go off when I unplug the powerstrip cord from the wall socket. Any ideas?

This happens to me when I put my computer to "sleep", and not a full power down.
-
Huh, I'm shutting my computer down, do you think I might just be putting it to sleep? How do I know the difference. I have cocktail panel lights and a coindoor light that are both hooked up to the power supply and they shut down properly. It's just the led's from the led wiz that stay on.

PC's can be set to give ower to usb even when shut down. This is usually a bios setting or a dip switch on the motherboard to enable disable.
You might find that the Led-Wiz was always getting power when you PC was shut down it's just that you only notice when LedBlinky has not had a chance to set lights off before shutdown.
Have you got another novelty USB item you can test your ports with when you PC is shut down. Such as a light or a Phone charger?

Loadman, I've never used MaLa to shutdown the pc - does this mean MaLa does not send the FEQuit event?

Yes if he is using the Plug-in

Maybe this can be fixed in a future release ;)

Hey guys,
Thanks for the tips. It doesn't look like my bios has the ability to shut off the power to my usb on shutdown and my mobo is mounted in my cocktail machine in away where I really can't get to the jumpers if they are on the board. Is there anyway to tell LED Blinky to turn off when Mala shuts down the computer at the software level? Batch file launched upon shutdown etc?
-
I use the LED-Wiz with Randy's audio music software so I can get the LED lights to blink/dance when the music is playing. However, on multiple occasions (every once in a while) when no music is playing I notice the LED lights are still blinking.
It is kind of annoying since the blinking LED lights are no longer based on what sound is coming from the computer .....weird. I need to minimize my jukebox software and then restart the LED-Wiz audio software, then restore my jukebox software window to get it working again.
Could this be the same problem being reported here? Possibly a bug in the LED-Wiz audio software perhaps (and possibly other LEDWiz software apps as well)?

MaLa and LEDBlinky are tightly integrated via the plugin - MaLa needs to send the 'quit' message to LEDBlinky before it starts the windows shutdown process. So this will require an update to MaLa - I'm sure it can be fixed!

OK The Ledwiz may still get power when shutdown (depending on your motherboard type/settings)
But with an aim to get the leds turned off first my question is:
"What exact method/settings do you use in MaLa to turn the computer off"? as there are a few options/variations.

First of all, thank you Loadman and Arzoo for your excellent support!!!! (and software)
I'm shutting down MALA by pressing 2 to get the menu, selecting exit and selecting shutdown. I've tried to use both the default shutdown method and have tried using the "shutdown.exe" method in the options menu. In both cases the lights will stay on at shutdown. The only difference is that when I shut down through "shutdown.exe" an error message with the headline: "Application Failed" appears before shutdown. The error message flashes too fast for me to read the specifics of the error.
I was thinking that a batchfile that tells LEDBlinky to shut down could be launched in the "Launch application at shutdown" option could do the trick. I'm just not sure what the commandline would be.
Thanks again.

Hmmm Let me ponder
-
juggle50 - you can shut down LEDBlinky with this command line:
ledblinky.exe 2

Hey Arzoo, thank you for the info but I'm having trouble with that command. When I tried to test out the command while still in MALA nothing happend. When I exited MALA there was a window saying that LEDBlinky had encountered an error. When I checked the Log this is what it said.
Time Date Timeout waiting for primary instance handle
Time Date Event Dropped [2]
Any ideas?

Juggle50,
Sorry for the delay getting back to you on this. There seems to be a hand-shaking bug with LEDBlinky when sending command line parameters used in conjunction with the MaLa plugin - I never really tested for this scenario as it seemed unnecessary (not so I guess :)). Anyway, here's a fix. Test it out and let me know how it goes.

Dude, never worry about that. We are just lucky that you took the time to write and support this app.
Okay, well good news is that the command works. The bad news is that when I created a batch file and pointed to it in the "Launch application on exit" in MALA, the batch file was either not opened or the shutdown process was so quick that it didn't have time to run. So, the LEDs still stayed on at shutdown.
However, I did get the LEDs to turn off at shutdown using the other method in MALA. I changed the "Exit Action" to shutdown instead of quit. Then in MALA I could hit esc then confirm the shut down by pressing 1 and the LEDs turned off. This was without any aid of a batch file.
So it looks like LEDblinky will quit during shut down using the "esc" method but not using the "menu" method. This is too bad because the menu method makes the cab very user friendly for guests to use. My esc button is hidden for obvious reasons. Maybe I'm too picky. But such is this hobby right? :)
Again, thank you guys so much for even reading my posts. You guys rock :)

So it looks like LEDblinky will quit during shut down using the "esc" method but not using the "menu" method.
Nice work ;D
Attached to this is a plug-in that makes a log-file of all commands received by a plugin
It writes a event.log file in your mala directory
After installing it and running mala then look for this line
EVENT: MaLa quit
If you norrow down the shutdown and/or quit methods that don't send a 'MaLa quit' to the plug-in that would be most helpful.
Not sending a MaLa quit message to the plug-in's is bad. In this case it means that Led-Wiz lights may be left on but the consequence could be much worse for other plug-ins (current or future) as they may cause mala to crash or hang if they don't have the chance to kill their objects (if any)
Basically I am asking you to test again with this logging program and check the log each time please to see what method does not send a mala quit to the program. If you find they all do then maybe Windows or mala is shutting down too quickly form the plug-in to shut down properly.
Please advise results :-)

Hey Loadman, thank you for your work on this. Yep I think this makes sense.
When using the "esc" method of shutting down. The MALA Quit appeared in the log.
When using the "menu" method of shutting down the MALA Quit did not appear in the log.
Looks like that makes sense as the LEDs go off using the esc method and not with the menu method.
I did not test it using shutdown.exe in either the esc or menu method. Let me know if you would like me to do that.
Thanks again

Ahh Now I understand what you mean.
I don't use that menu hence was not familiar with all the options.
I got the same result. ;D
Watch this space.. ;)
