Hi everyone
Does any know if it's possible to use (part of) a poster as artwork? ???
Specifically, I'm building a controller and was wondering if I could put a poster below the see-through plexi top?
Cheers all

I thought about it but . . . :-\
I dunno...designing my own was fun and prints doesn't cost a whole lot to begin with ! :)
I suggest you create something or have someone do a custom work.
Thats what I would do...but movie posters would def work.
They just dont go with arcades ! :P

Well maybe it's a movie with a game based on it.

I posted the question I have little artistic talent, and haven't found any pics hi res enough on the internet to use.
And yeah, I was thinking of using a general poster, like star wars or transformers etc and just using some of the picture, without any wording.

i used a poster print progam and printed and cut and taped my underlay, you cant tell its a bunch of paper cut and pasted together unless you get your face about 4" from the control panel. BUT my picture is very strange, odd, sorta sureal bubbles shooting out into space type thing. A sharp image may not work as well..

I also have little to no artistic ability and I thought about going the poster route until I could get dedicated artwork I was happy with. I thought it would be a low cost option for a few months. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything I liked or would work well as an overlay.
The smaller posters need to be in landscape orientation (ie. longer than high) so that ruled a lot of them out. The other posters I looked at (full size and oversized) didn't "fit in" as an overlay, like snaaake said. What was left were generic psychadelic posters or surreal images like fractal sets. After a weekend of looking I decided it wasn't such a good idea.

My first Mame cabinet had a cutout from a movie poster as the marquee. I forgot what movie it was, but the marquee ended up being an extreme closeup of this girl's eyes (Winona Ryder I think). Main reason I used it was that it was printed on both sides, so it backlit well.
