Title: Running emaultors from windows home server
Post by: Hyperfan on April 09, 2008, 04:59:53 pm
I have a few pcs in the house and one in the arcade machine, im looking at setting up a windows home server to centralise all the files, this server will also backup every machine.

I wonderd if i could put all the emaulators and roms on the server shared drive then i can run all the emulators on the arcade and other pcs from this one set of files.

Has anyone done this or know if it will work?

That is how I run things now.

The xbox gets the roms from the server, as does the HTC, Mac Etc.

It works fine, even Daphne streams in without any real issues.

I'd ditch Home Server and just get XP or Windows 2000.

So much easier!

Yep, do this via wireless network and point my roms folder to the server. Very easy - and practical.

ok so the emulators have to be installed on each machine then just share the rom folders from the server?

with windows xp as a server as you just doing a normal foldershare?
