Title: What can I do with a black light? - Counterfeit money checker!
Post by: RayB on April 08, 2008, 11:53:41 pm
I was rumaging through junk in the basement last weekend and found a small counterfeit money checker (you know like you see at convenience stores, etc?). It's basically a small florescent black light. The entire unit is no bigger than 8-10 inches long (that's what she said).

Any ideas? My cabinet is white, black and blue/purple scheme. Might be fitting to have black-lit art in there...

Although, I held it up inside my MAME cabinet, above the screen, and it looks like the UV light illuminates the phosphors on the monitor.

Ditch that idea and get some black cold cathodes and make your cab like the inside of Discs of Tron.

Then you can wear a white striped T shirt and look like one of those Game Programs.  ;D

Really?  What about games with black lights inside the cab?  I know Asteroids Deluxe has it, but that is also a bottom mounted monitor that is viewed off of a mirror.  I wonder if that may be why it's bottom mounted (along with the overlay being reflected in the mirror).

Could be why. Also, the monitor was not powered on. Maybe the effect is different when the monitor is powered (ie: not noticable).
