Title: Selling Monster cabinet -- SE Michigan--Auction ending Wed Morn
Post by: Hoagie_one on May 27, 2003, 09:04:18 am
Actually, it was last configured to be a High impact football game, but its the same cabinet.  Man this cab is perfect for mame.  It has a nice big control panel area, a flat non-tilted viewing area for a monitor, its great.

Comes with both coin doors, with the electronics, but will need new locks.
Has 4 wico 8-way joysticks, used but apear to be in good shape (besides needing a cleaning)
Has several buttons of variable colors, with micro switches (7, I believe)
It is in very good shape, the control panel is the only thing that will need some touch up, but most of us were just gonna build a new one anyways.

I paid $125 for it just days ago and thats all im asking for it.  Must pickup from my house in Pontiac, Michigan.  48340.

I would also consider a smaller cabinet in partial trade for this beast as the only reason im not keeping it is because it wont fit in my basement.

Thanks for looking.
Mike

EDIT:
This is a generic picture of the cabinet, NOT THE ACTUAL ONE I HAVE.

Regardless my basement is 29", I double checked, lol.

the pics will have to wait till tongiht or tomarrow, but rest assured besides some dust and dirt, its in solid shape except for a littrle chhipping on the control panel and a missing strip of T-molding on teh side of the CP as well.

I'm gonna start crying now, I went to go take pics of this thing and got a better look on the inside.  It has speakers, light for marque, a ton of wiring\switches.  The coin mechs are all their with switches.  It even has volumn + light controls inside the coin doors.

Anyways, here's teh pics

If there isn't any interest in the next few days, im gonna put it on Ebay.  I need to turn this around so I can get the smaller cab I need.

Thanks
Mike

Yea that'd be quite a mess, I was actually just joking around to see if anyone would, lol. THanks tho. Today I should be calling a guy who might have a cab or two sitting around, hopefully he will hang on to one of em until i get my check in a couple days...prob is, he is one of those arcade operators that are all about the money, so I shall see how it goes, seems like he is my last hope in VA so I'm hoping he has one that he's willing to hang on to for a couple days for me.

Yeah, arcade guys will try to swindle you if you let them.  to them, every cabinet costs them $1000.

I talked to em last week, he said he had cabs but they were in good shape thats why he saved em so they are 100. I told him I was looking for something in 50 dollar price range so he said call him back next monday (today) and he'll see what his "friend in the bussiness" has. I assume he is going to give me the same cab 50 dollars cheaper just because I wouldn't take his first price, lol... i dunno tho... I'll find out in an hour and 40 minutes when i call em, (has to be after 2, lol)

Really. I suggest forget the X-Arcade stick and look for a cabinet that already has a good usable control panel on it.

Most any warehouse full of assorted half stripped cabinets will probably have something that was converted into a Street Fighter 2. Go for that if it is there (and still has the controls), that will save you a lot of money because you won't have to buy a new panel or new controls. Then just hook em up with an I-Pac.

If that isn't there then try to find a Defender cabinet. Either an original one or a converted one. The reason being is that they are built like a tank, they have a monitor shelf, and they take a rectangular wooden control panel. That means you can make a new panel that looks good in about 5 minutes with no skill (try making a new panel for an Atari or Midway cabinet, uggh). You can spot a converted Defender by looking for a shiny coin door chromish coin door that has spots for 3 slots (but probably only has two slots).

Third choice would just be to get the nicest looking cabinet there.

Other things to look for.

Cabinets with monitor shelves (most Williams cabinets).

Also, once you are there. Do not ask if "Cabinet 3" comes with whatever is still in it. If you ask, then it isn't going to come with it, but if you don't ask, then it probably will.

Look carefully at this picture so you can spot one that might be painted black.

I'd rather use an x-arcade, less wiring... but thanks a lot, i'll keep a look out for a street fighter or defender... the shelf would be great so i'll most likely get an old defender if i see it, THANKS A LOT!

spectre......

I used an X-Arcade in my cabinet...it works great.....of course, it doesnt look like an original CP, and I would prefer that, but for the ease of wiring the controls, and the fact that all my games are being played off my xbox harddrive, the X-Arcade is the way to go!

you can see pics of my project here:

Dude, just part that thing out, and sell the bits and pieces. You'll make more, and it will sell, and will be shippable. No one is going to pay $100 on Ebay for an unpopulated, empty, converted cabinet AND be local to you for pick-up only. I've only had success with that ONCE, and it was a stripped DK cabinet that a collector relatively nearby absolutely HAD to have.
