Title: Dreamcast Pad Analog hack!!!
Post by: cleric on May 26, 2003, 07:24:46 pm
Hi,

I Have 2 original sega dreamcast pad. I want to hack for the arcade cabinet. ;D

I check this site
http://www.mameworld.net/pc2jamma/arc_dc4.html
(http://www.mameworld.net/pc2jamma/images/dcjoy.gif)

This all nice, but it appear that ANALOG stick is not mention is this hack.

So i ask, is possible to have a analog stick hack, for the arcade joysticks ??

Because some games only plays on Analog way, like Virtua Striker and some more games... :|

Give me some advise please.. ???

I havn't actualy tried this my self, so this is a guess.
The analog stick uses HEDs, too, 4 of them. I assume one per direction, just solder to them like the side recommends you solder to the analog shoulder trigger's HEDs.

I've been hoping for one, and trying to read peoples replies when I see them for a future project...

But I believe the current thing is that they are VERY easy to hack into a digital joystick since the DC analog controllers are shorted when fully moving in a direction.

But there isn't currently any good solution for hacking a real analog arcade joystick  into a DC analog.

But people need to start hacking the weird DC controllers out there and find out if any use standard pots!

The people who put the DC in a cabinet do it for the arcade ports of games.  And most arcade games don't use an analog stick.  I plan on putting a dc in my cabinet just for the lightgun :)
