A quarter pounder in metric would be 125 grams. I'll take the metric one  :P

Well the metric pound is more an informal term, but (at least in Europe) people use it to mean 500 gram.

I know but if/when you ever have a White Castle, you'll understand that I was being sarcastic.  White Castles make Big Macs seem like cuisine to some people.   ;)

I don't White Castle , we don't have here. We had years ago some Burger King but they left France. It is pity because i found Burger King more eatable than Mac Donalds.

But i have to admit that you guys in U.S. have very good Hamburger restaurant. I eat very good hamburger when i was here. But not in mac do or in this kind of "restaurant".

I thought it was Le but couldnt recall.  One year of French which I enjoyed but switched schools half way through and they had different text books.  Never caught up at the new school.

You're right.  Big difference between fast food and good hamburger restaurants.   :)

....including the UK, even after the Governments drive to iradicate imperial measurements from grocers, butchers etc which even came to several small businesses being taken to court over there refusal to predominantly display imperial weights.

The McDonalds 113.398093 gram'er doesn't quite have the same ring to it  :)

I always found it interesting about the French language that things are preceeded by Le or La depending on if they are considered male or female. Like a car I guess would be a female object. Very strange, but I guess that is why the French have a reputation for being sex maniacs  ;D

Oddly enough I think most latin-derived languages apply sex to nouns - English is the exception, not the rule (can someone with more language experience than I confirm this?)

In French you have only Male or Female.

In german you have Male , Female and neutral...

And sometimes what is Male in French,  is Female in German ...

Actually in english nouns do have a gender too don't they?  It's not used often, but when you refer to an object you will use "she", "he" or "it" depending on the gender. For instance the bow of a ship would be "her bow" a dogs legs would be "it's legs".

I think the reputation we have is not about quantity  but more about quality.

As for lot of other things in France, we like take our time!  ;)

Actually in the 2003 survey the french ranked high on frequency, but below average on quality and below average on time spent  ;D

The first thing to go will be Al Gore's internet.

Ill start my own measuring system based off the size of my own foot, it worked for King Henry, and me and my post apocalyptic mutant brethren will impose our system on the rest of the worldly survivors through extreme ridicule for lesser systems like the metric system should have done oh so long ago.

Yeah, they're still around.  They are called Carl's Junior out here (Arizona).  In Virginia, and generally in the south they are called Hardees.

If any of you come to America and have a hankering for a burger, do yourself a favor and dont go to any chain, any local burger joint will outdo those easily.  Yes even In and Out, though feel free to get a Tshirt.

Fast food burgers are like fast food coffee, sure it works to get you a fix, but overall you are just cheating yourself on the experience.

Example: Hodad's in California
(http://www.roadfood.com/photos/5545.jpg)

Now THATs a burger!

I like Hardees. but I never new they started out as Carl jr's.
fast food is like fast women, good at first but it dont take long to grow tired of them.
