I tried searching the forum and internet but couldn't find the answer.
I'm using Mala and Mame v106. When I start a game in Mala or Mame32 v106 I get a window that says "LOADING" followed by another window that shows the ROM loading (green progress bar on top) before the game starts. It loads super fast but I want to eliminate both windows when I start a game so it just boots up the game right away.
Is this a Mame or Mala problem? I can't seem to find any toggle switch in either program to turn this off.
Anyone out there know how to turn these off and can help me out? Thanks.

So is this something that can be turned off in mame or is this eliminated when people compile their own mame version?

or is this eliminated when people compile their own mame version?
Bingo

Damn, I figured that would be the answer. I'm sure people have asked this a million times so... is compiling easy for someone to do? I've seen the threads on it so I know there's documentation. Is Headkaze's compiler the best tool? I'm not too god at doing these kinds of things but I really want those nag/loading screen to disappear. Thanks.

I used instructions close to these when I was compiling older versions of MAME
(not to do what you're trying however)

I put off compiling my own Mame for ages but when I finally got around to it it was a breeze

Yarb, what method did you use?

I used Mame Compiler 64. It was very easy to setup and compile

Have you tried some of the later versions of MAME? The newer MAME32 versions remove the pop up loading and progress windows integrated the loading screens into the DOS game window.

i had the same "problem".
to disable the mame copyright and game-info screens i compiled mame myself.
i found all i needed in this topic: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=71845.0
as mentioned in that thread, you'll need:
- mame source files
- compiler
- hi-score patch (incl. disable nag-screens).
that's it i think.
succes!

I'll give it a whirl when I get a chance and report back. I'm sure I'll run into some problems and will need assistance:)

depending on the layout you are using, MALA could be poping u the first loading screen.
compiling mame is relatively easy. Mr Do's instructions work like a charm, so does headkazes compiler....just don't try to compile mame on Vista, it is nothign but trouble. i was having a hell of a time compiling the other day (my first time trying) and i kept getting errors. i tried it on two different PCs and got the same error..it was so frustrating, until i decided to try it on a computer running windows xp pro, it went right through with no problems the first time. stupid vista

That is odd, I had no problem at all and I am running Vista
