Title: FE question
Post by: skirge66 on May 26, 2003, 03:05:11 am
ok...I have a large noob control deck ... supercadish ...
(I know many of you are against this...but I like it) what I woud like to know is:  is there a way to have a diagram of my control panel displayed on the front end with the appropriate controls highlighted for each game?

Which front end would best support this if any?

thanks for the help guys

the only way to do that that i know of at the moment is by making bitmaps of your control panel for each game with the highlights...

As far as fe's that can show them...mine does and I am sure you can setup Emutron to do that also using a custom script. In other skinnable fe's you could use one of the bitmap sprite for example for flyers and instead of the flyers show your control panel. In mine the fe will search in the helpscreen for a specific bitmap based on the rom and clone of name and when not found it will show a generic one....

When dxlaz is released it will have two "alternate elements" for use on skins.  You can define them to look in any folder you choose.  I added this specifically for instruction cards, control panel pics and whatever misc junk you wish to display.

I've set it up to support png and jpg as they are the most popular formats.  In theory I could add pcx and bmp but as they are seldom used I didn't bother.
