hi gonna replace the caps in my 20" monitor, but where do i get the cap kit from and list of what caps to replace, or should i just replace all caps or test them 1st? the monitor is a 20" kortek ktx20 110v cga, the screen is dull , like faded so think a cap kit might fix it, was gonna put a tv in but i would just get same resolution,im in uk and could prob test them and replace the ones that dont measure up to the markings on the can, could get replacements from rs or maplin

Or you could try the real Bob Roberts.
-
If you get it from Bob, doublecheck the caps against both his list and the schematic. Last two kits I got from him had too many that were wrong. His list was right but the wrong caps were all half the proper voltage or worse.

You could also try Zanen:

Zanen is good. I recently called them looking for a Commodore 1084 kit. He didn't have them so he ended up putting together a large "general cap kit" for me with 5-6 each of tons of different common monitor cap values. Very very useful and the price was good.
-
will try that as there is alot of caps to change ,i take it they need changed on neck board to? i was trying to get the schematic for my monitor but google dont through anything up,ill email bod and hop he posts to uk, well back to painting the cab :)
-
tryed bob roberts he doesnt ship to uk, so gonna try fuse 1st before cap kit

Why are you replacing the fuse? If it's blown, it's blown for a reason.
-
its the logical place to start, i think, there is only 2 components after it, ill meter the ac see if its correct voltage but the other 2 components (black square) i dont know how to test, any recomendations? dont want to put into tv shop would cost fortune
-
if the degauss circuit is not working you will have discolouration, the fuse blowing all the time points to either the ptc component(positor) being short circuit
(http://img37.picoodle.com/img/img37/4/3/31/t_positorm_dfb47aa.jpg) (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/3/31/f_positorm_dfb47aa.jpg&srv=img37)
or a short on the actual degauss coil
to prove its not the coil simply unplug it
to prove its not the ptc then you would need to desolder from the chassis
a ptc component costs about Ģ2
-
thanx i think i will just buy one put it in and then try it and see if it blows, then i know the fault is elseware, im might as well buy one as i, goint to maplin to get the fuse anyway, wont hurt
-
on the ptc component on the board i cant find what value it is, all its got on top of it is pth45ic then under it says 02*8d (the* is a circle with a m in it) maplin dont do them, i found some sites with them but non for this chassie, also cant find the monitor spec sheet, any help locating this appreciated,if the coil is fuxored then its bin time, and use a tv instead for time beeing, got a few jamma boards, if i use tv with scart rgb is there a way to connect boards rgb out to it?

That's not a model number distributed in the USA.

thanx for links, quite cheap for there components, pitty the goods come to 1.55 but Handling Charge is Ģ5.95 , well suppose ill order it to try it

hi grant that scart link ive already saw but the diagram is from pc to scart, i was on about jamma board to scart, ive got 3 jamma boards 2 konami(double pcb) and a jelico pcb, and havent a clue whats on them till my parts arrive i want to see if they work,as i only get a 7 day return guarantee if dead

You didn't read it completely obviously, as it ALSO covers real arcade PCB's to SCART...
