Title: purple monitor screen

hi thinking of buying a candy cab, the plastic one, it has a 26-29 inch screen but says in the advert the screen is purple when switched on, it has a game  NIGHTSTALKERS, THE NIGHT WARRIORS but fan is dead so he thinks board is friesd to, would that cause screen to go purple or is it more than just that, is it easy fixable ? dont want to chuck cash away, the guy doesnt know what mon is init, and i was wondering if it would be a multi sync one,

any help appreciated, now to bid on golden tea 98 :)

purple screen with a cps2 board is more likely the suicide battery dead on the cps2 mobo,very common problem-these batteries were meant to be changed every 5 years or less
more than likely the monitor is o.k as a faulty monitor is highly unlikely to give a purple screen,to get a purple screen points towards some kind of video input signal
the monitor is most likely a pentranic or yte make and depending on manufacture date is most probably 15khz only
cps2 fans had a habit of not working so although the power supply could be shot i very much doubt it
you can actually bring cps2 boards back to life by whats known as installing pheonix chips
nice cabs though,far nicer than a woody cab

thanx for reply, its that cab you pointed me towards, but dont know weather to get that or/and the golden tee 98, i was hoping to get a multi symc system with rotatable monitor for a good price but cant find one, well only one i saw was steep at £800

sounds like missing the green .  check green sig path from  input to green cathode on crt

If the CPS-2 Suicide Battery died, you have a couple of things you can do to get it fixed.  One, you can contact Capcom and pay them to fix it.  Another option is to contact Razoola over at CPS2Shock ( http://cps2shock.retrogames.com ) and see if he has a "phoenix edition patch" for your version which runs a battery less program using non-encrypted ROMs.

someone on another forum won this cab,its fried 2 of his game boards so i think we can assume there is a voltage wiring problem
