How exactly were those pictures taken?  I thought google maps were all satellite images.

EDIT: looks like from the roof of a car.  Very cool.

How exactly were those pictures taken?  Definitely does not look like a satellite image when you zoom out.

They have a car with a special 360 degree camera mounted on the roof. I believe they bought out some company to do it. Pretty damn neat if you ask me.

Knowing how they did it though, I would not want to be the driver of that car in neighborhoods like that!

Yeah, it's pretty cool. You can take a virtual drive through several cities.

Google Streetview: Golden Gate Bridge (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=&layer=c&cbll=37.828627,-122.479632&cbp=1,513.9075570146003,0.511890388205883,0,1.4824134626833214&ie=UTF8&om=1&ll=37.86347,-122.473183&spn=0.092155,0.181274&z=13&utm_campaign=en&utm_source=en-ha-na-us-google-svn&utm_medium=ha)

Streetview: Golden Gate Bridge[/url]

Did anyone ever see the documentary about people committing suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge.  It's
pretty freaky how many were caught on camera.
