Title: Mini-pac and Dreamcast at the same time. Best way to do it?
Post by: Ginsu Victim on March 24, 2008, 11:52:40 am
I have a Mini-pac with the wiring harness and I'm wanting to run a Dreamcast off the same control panel. What's the best way to handle that? I have a KVM switch to change the monitor between DC and PC, but would like a way to either flip a switch to go back and forth on the CP from DC/PC, or just have them wired at the same time.
Anyone have any suggestions? Examples?

Yes you can use a KVM switch to do this using the Dreamcast adaptor sold through www.arcadecabinets.co.uk.
The KVM switch can switch the video and keyboard from the cabinet to either the PC or the Dreamcast. You could also get a KVM which switches sound as well.

Thanks Andy. I've actually seen the item on your page, and have considered it. I'm just weighing all my options (especially if I can use things I already have)

There are some innovative DIY jobs people have done using A/B switch-boxes. Do some searching here to see. Personally, I do it manually but I'm getting sick of it. Making it a one-button switch would be really sexy.
