Title: Build a patio how much crushed stone?
Post by: squirrellydw on March 20, 2008, 07:52:57 pm
I am building a patio with pavers and it is going to be about 300 square feet.  The size is about 20 by 14 and the crushed stone base needs to be 6 inch's compacted.  I have been told I need anywhere from 7 tons to 10.5 tons anyone know what is correct?  I will be using 2A modified compacted stone.

That sounds about right.  We did a 16 x 30 barn with pavers and we used 12 ton with 6 inch.  You should be able to use around 8 and it'll be real easy leveling.

http://www.aestone.com/calculators/aggregate.shtml

Comes up with 7.7 tons for 3/4" stone.  2A Modified is smaller, plus the crap they sweep out of the crusher, so it weighs a bit more per ft^3, I'd guess.

My parking lot is 2A modified.  It doesn't drain worth crap.
