I bought one off ebay awhile back and didn't like its results. Has anyone had positive results? Thanks

most ps2 games doesnt output vga so result is usually bad with most of these so called vga boxes. you can get the xrgb2 scan converter which upscans all ps2 games to vga. I have one everything looks great..its expensive..like $200 :dizzy:

200$!??
does it change the quality that much???
is there Much jaggies?

I don't agree at all. I just sold a box that does a fine job.
But one must have a progressive signal to get near one to one results. 480p looks fantastic oh high resolution.
The problem is that you have to blindly select the stuff on alot of games since it doesn't automatically go to progressive.
So in essence for Mortal Kombat Armageddon you have to push like 20 buttons BLIND till you finally get the progressive screen. It works well, but yes it is better to get an Upscanner to coincide with the pass through.

So if I understand correctly, if I have the xrgb2 scan converter, I could hook my vga monitor up to it, to use in my mame machine

Yup.
If you do have one, you should post some pictures of it in use, the monitor I mean. I'd be interested to see how it looks.

I think this could be a solution for putting guns on my mame machine, xrgb2 scan converter with a playstation 2, some kind of y splitter to 1 end for my mame computer the other hooked to my scan converter 2 guns & im ready to go. Does that sound like a possible solution since guns in mame are so weak plus i'm running vista 64

I got one of these for $60.00

It will allow anything with component out to connect to a vga monitor.
I haven't used it with a ps2 yet, but I have gotten plenty of use out of it
with my xbox.
The picture quallity is excellent from the console, but it's pass-through circuit
sucks, so I would recomend getting a kvm switch if you want to have both
a console and a pc connected to the same monitor.
Otherwise, i'm very happy with it.
