This is something I am a little confused about and I cant seem to find the right info. If I wanted to put a 48 in 1 JAMMA board into my DK JR cabinet without hacking the original wiring up is there an easy to do this? Would I be better just redoing the cabinet with a JAMMA harness and getting an adapter for use with an original nintendo board?
I am going to be converting a popeye cabinet to full DK resto soon and I would not mind having something to throw a 48 in 1 board into. I also have an original DK board that I could use with an adapter as well if needed.
The reason I like the idea of the 48 in 1 is that I am very low on space and I like the idea of having a way to play some of my other favorites as well.

I'd love for someone to come up with a plug and play solution for this. There is a real need for this type of board or harness!! Why can't someone make an easy JAMMA adapter for a DK machine where you can just plug in all the little DK plugs and convert it to JAMMA without hacking up the machine!?? Spaeth, you need to save us!!

As you know, there are major challenges trying to do this.
1. First, the monitor accepts inverted color. Needs a color inverter.
2. The power supply and control panel, coin-door and Monitor all use non-standard connetors.*
3. The board wiring also uses non-standard plugs.*
4. The Monitor, switching power supply and marquee light all run on a non-standard voltage, 100VAC instead of 110VAC.
* Non-standard, in this case also means the connectors have not been available since 1982.
If you are willing to
A. put in a Switching power supply, that taps in after the switch, but before the isolation/drop-down transformer.
B. Use the edge connector to plug in your nintendo boards.
C. and Rewire the control panel.
Then it can be done. Basically, you are rewiring the cabinets DC wiring, changing out the power supply, bypassing the sound amp on the monitor, and adding a color inverter.

Well, if Jamma is too hard how about an easy edge connector mod where you can plug all the little black cables into something that goes to an edge connector that you can then easily plug and swap into a DK, DK JR., and DK 3 PCB. My real dream is to have a rotary switch box that allows easy switching to and from the three DK PCBs.
Mike, I manufacture goods in China for a living. If you are interested I can make an injection mold for you for these connectors. What do you think? The cost of the mold is about $2,000. The manufacturing costs of the pieces would be peanuts and I am sure we could place all the connectors into one mold.

Ok at this point I think what I would do is remove the old wiring and start from scratch. Sound like it might not be a bad idea to use a monitor that does not require the isolation transformer and a color inverter.
If i really want to covert back I would just put in the old stuff back together.
Unless anyone has some good input on how to salvage the original stuff.
