I'm trying to get snaps taken of all muy gens games just like i did for mame. But when I go to save snap it saves it for example a game that looks like this
Aladdin_[!]_.smd
saves it like this Aladdin_[!]_0000 and when i go to glaunch screen pic won't recognize? I setup in the gens.cfg the right path any ideas why?

Game Launcher expects the snap shot to be the exact same name of the ROM, but with a different extension. If the ROM is actually "Aladdin_[!].smd" then the screen shot must be named "Aladdin_[!].png". Of course, the extension could be whatever image format the file is saved in. If it's PNG, PCX, BMP or JPEG, GL will display it.

What Dave said...
This is common sense btw..... ALL fes are like this.

Hey guys i realize this should be simple but it's not working out like itg should. For example the roms in sega is
Alladin_[!].smd
when i open aladdin in gens and save screen shot it saves it as
Alladin_[!]_0000 and glaunch will not except this. However if i rename picture to Alladin_[!].smd with the dots and everything it works?
so i'd hate to have to rename ever image i make. in mame i just hit f12 and dragged images into snaps it worked right away. Anything i'm doing wrong for gens emulator ....... Thanks you guys i promise i'v exausted all my options before i bug everyone!

Well, then it isn't a front end problem it's a emulator problem and thus you should have titled your post accordingly.
Nope, you have to manually rename all snaps. Sorry dude.

Im currently doing snaps for gensAvga and zsnesw.
If use use mamewah ,it renames the snapshot for you.
ie ZSNES creates a snapshot called image.pcx which is renamed to the rom name with the picture extention.
In gens its ROMNAME_000.bmp renamed to romname which iis then put in my snaps dir.
The only hitch is sometimes inside the goodgens named zipped rom is the badly named smd file ie Alldn instead of Alladin_[!].The snapshot taken is then the smd named file not the proper goodgen named zip file.
All I do then is go:
Right Click on good rom name ,rename , copy the highlighted rom name.
Go to bad snapshot file , right click , rename ,paste . now you have snapshot the same name as rom.
Sounds messy but u get quick if u have the two folder displayed at the same time and all your snapshots are done in alpha order.
Maybe someone out there knows of a way to rename files in the zip to the same name as the zip????? then its easy using Mamewah ,,,just press f12!
