Title: My arcade wall
Post by: Paladin on March 18, 2008, 01:07:27 am
I just got my Omega Race up and running!  It pretty much fills up my gameroom, so now that it's in place I thought I'd post a little showoff picture.  It may look like there's room to the right of the Tempest, but that's the door to the garage that we use to enter the house.  I wanted to show off the Tempest art, but make sure it isn't close enough to the door to get bumped.

Nice!  Is your MAME cab a 19" or 25" Dynamo?

The MAME cab is a 25" Dynamo, vertical mount.  I'm using an ArcadeVGA and Ipac.  The cabinet's rough, but I don't currently have the energy to yank out the monitor and refinish it.

Omega Race is a sweet game. Looks like a fine lineup in the game room.

I love Omega Race. Got two of 'em myself, one works sporadically (have to sand down the fuse holders every couple months) and one I think I've found a few bad traces. Hopefully I'll be able to get that one going sometime this summer.

Looks great!  :applaud:

Think Omega Race is one of the best looking arcade cabinets.

I'd have to side with the Tempest. And, gosh, remember when you were small enough that 19" monitor cabinets being right next to each other meant there was a buttload of space on either side of you and the kid next to you?

Thanks for the compliments!  I just updated the picture to remove the 25" MAME cabinet and add the Gauntlet Legends showcase cab that I just finished.  Next is to get the Tempest monitor repaired, and to decide what to do next with the showcase.  I no longer have a MAME cab, and I was using the PC in it for a media server as well.

I may sell the Gauntlet Legends PCB set and install a PC and/or Dreamcast into the cab.

Can definitely see the garage door, now. And something I noticed about the showcase: whereas a regular frankenpanel cab would claim space on either side of itself, the showcase's panel being so far back apparently keeps it out of the way.

That's actually a floor lamp at the right side of the picture.  If I had moved it another couple inches over you'd see the door behind it.  I got real lucky with the way the control panel lined up.  There's enough room to get in and play Tempest and Omega Race without feeling cramped.  I haven't played any two player games on Omega Race yet.  It might end up being a quick shuffle for one player to get out of the way and the next to jump in before their turn.
