Just wondering if any Companies, such as Mameroom or any others sell or will soon sell an arcade cabinet like this one below?
Seems like a perfect fit for those of us who want to put an LCD in their cabinet to save on space and weight of a traditional cabinet. Anyone have a cabinet like this already? Thanks.

Look at the dimensions quoted on that cabinet, it's not small.
It's footprint is 28" wide by 34" deep, as compared with about 26" wide by 30" deep for a classic Defender machine. The LCD saves weight I'm sure, but you can put a LCD into anything.

That's a bit of an oddball design, but I suppose it's alright. We do many 'slimline' machines, but always stick to the classic arcade shape. I doubt any of the big places will replicate this as it's not a normal design and may not suit many people. You'd be better off drawing up your own plans for one and doing it youself.

How would I go about that? I do like the design and would want to get a cabinet like this.
If somehow I do get plans for this, is it possible to "shave" some inches off the dimensions, while still keeping the overall look. Like making it not as deep and wide, but still keeping the height? Thanks.

If I were given the job of making it smaller. . .
The width is determined by the widescreen LCD monitor. A non-widescreen monitor would shave some width, and most games don't use that extra width anyhow. You could build it around a 20-inch or 21.3-inch LCD with 4:3 ratio.
The cabinet depth is determined mostly by the large, protruding control panel. You can see they are using only about half of the CP space, so you could take out several inches there . . . . depending on what controls you actually want on yours, of course. (Some people I know would just cram in more controls, rather than make the CP smaller!)
The height is already quite short, so I wouldn't see anything to gain by trying to cut that down.
I have a quibble over the location of the speakers. It looks like they are under the CP, above the coin door, and the speakers are sort of aimed down toward the player's knees. I don't have ears on my knees, only grasshoppers have that. :P

They do look an awful lot like the silver strike bowling and golden tee cabs. They also keep there speakers down by the coin door which normally means you can't hear them as most venues i have played them in keep the sound down low.

Thanks for the tips guys. I do like the idea of using a 4:3 monitor to save some width space. And you're right, I don't need all that depth for the CP. I do like the height the way it is and don't mind the speakers being down there.
I did email the guy who has the game for auction about just selling the cabinet and he replied with a cost of $1,795 for the cabinet with the LCD and all the wiring. I have to email him back and see if the cabinet is available without the LCD and wiring, but somehow I doubt it.
Does anyone know how I would even go about making plans for a cabinet like this? I have zero experience building, but a smallish cab like this would be perfect for me.

Nice cab. Not uncommon though; I've seen and built a few similar.

look for a Tekken 5 cabinet. They have a nice LCD. The cabinet can be lowered or raised to allow you to sit/stand and play.

If you really want a smaller cabinet you could also look at a Sega Naomi. It's not a self built cab off course but quite small. Personally I love Knievel's slimline designs.

I kinda like that design. But I dont like the speaker location either, and I most definitely dont like the price.
You could build one from scratch a lot cheaper than that, I think.
If I built it from scratch, i think i would make it taller so you could extend the marquee out and have a place to put the speakers.
Come on folks, I think Red may be hinting for someone to draw up some plans for him.
Might be a good sub-project for someone who does great design jobs.

Also, that photo appears to be doctored, a 26" monitor DOES NOT fill a 28" wide cabinet from side to side like it does in that picture.
Arcade games aren't widescreen, and shouldn't be played that way, for most games it won't matter, but the stretching will throw you off in some games, particularly very fast reflex games, multidirectional shooters and games where you can move all over the screen really fast. However it wouldn't throw your Streetfighter 2 game off at all.

If someone purchased one of those to play classic games they should be shot.
Whether standard, skinny or mini, remember this, classic cabs for classic games!

Note how the HotRod pushes back partially underneath the monitor when not in use. It really would fit in a small space. Relatively light weight, with wheels and a handle, should make it easy to move around. Also the fact that it doesn't really look like an arcade game could be a positive or a negative, depending on your home decorating sensibilities.
I thought this looked very appealing for a while, before I got really serious about the whole thing. That was before I decided I could clear out a larger space for a full sized machine, and before I decided I wanted U360s and a spinner and a working coin door and a rotating monitor and a classic arcade-style cabinet with a marquee and side art, and so forth and so on. ;D
For the casual gamer, though, this thing would be a pragmatic choice.

I think that cab looks really nice, as for the turnarcade guy stating its "alright" dude, no offense, but your cabinets, espeically your CPs are EXTREMELY cheesy and boxy and have those ugly front buttons, there too short from the screen, no trackball, This panel blows yours out of the water, instead of saying its "alright" you should copy it.
