Title: Can you identify this part on the Sanyo 20EZ?
Post by: cornishHen on March 07, 2008, 11:35:26 pm
I was just tidying up a cinelabs flyback install when this large white part sheered.  I was gently wiping the dust from the top of it.  Any idea what this is?  A resistor?

After alittle research I think this is 180Ohm 20watt Wire wound resistor..

is it ok to substitute a higher wattage wirewound resisistor?   Ex.  I have a 180ohm 20W resistor and i was hoping to substitute it with a 180ohm 25 watt?

Yes..... just as long as the ohm is correct.
The wattage is how much current the resistor can handle.
And make sure that it stands off from the pcb the same way due to heat buidup.
