First of all, I'm sooooo sorry for asking such a basic, 101 question but I swear I couldn't find any answers after three days of looking.
Basically, I have my .AVI files ready to go. I'm just confused at "where" they should go...? Right now I have them in "Snaps." And then, which window option in Mala Layout Editor 'points' at these? I'm assuming "Videos" but nothing's happening when I check it in Mala. I did, however, see a thread about Divx vs. Xvid, which could be an issue too (assuming I have them in the right spot, for which chances are low, haha)... right now I have Divx but I'm going to try the recommended Xvid when I get home.
[I was stoked that I figured out the changing cabinets, marquees, and control panels, but this darn Video Preview thing is stumping me.... well, that and how to "see" my background image I used vs. the dark grey one that currently is displayed when I run Mala.]
Thanks as always, and again, sorry for such a noob question.

You can put the videos in any folder you like. You just need to tell mala in config where you videos are
You alos need:
* A video codec like XVID
* A layout that has a video window included
* Video Enabled in mala (it is by default)
umm I think that is it

Actually, I believe your post is the one I found regarding Xvid instead of Divx, I'm can't wait to try that when I get home. I'll mess with the config tab in Mala and point it over.
Thanks man, much appreciated!

Just to update my fellow messageboarders, I did some quality checks and couldn't get that batch of AVI's to play on a computer where I knew the codec was fine. Long story short, I tried the Emumovies previews, they worked perfectly... happily gave my donation, downloaded the batch, and they work flawlessly!!
On that computer, though, the Xvid tip was key though, because that computer didn't play ANY Avi's until I had that on there (or Divx, which I had to remove).
So if anyone else is having these issues, just save yourself a migrate get the Emumovies... I'm glad I did.

I ordered the 7(?) dvd bundle. All I need is mame, but who knows, I may branch out to other emus later.
I think $30 + $5 shipping is not a bad price, and I get the ftp access included.

Yeah, I was gonna try to scrounge the internet for movies but the ones I found was junk, encoded in a crazy way that wouldn't decode easily. I'm glad I donated and got Emumovies, saved an assload of time, effort, and headaches.

Emumovies rocks the kazba.

Another related question:
Where can you get the cabinet pics?
I downloaded Howard's marquee pack.. (Great work from the master!)

Bumped to see if anyone has any advice about finding arcade cab pics..

I believe this is the page you are needing. There are many downloads on this page including cabinet pictures. Thanks, Shane
