Title: Mounting monitor in cocktail cab?
Post by: JoyMonkey on May 21, 2003, 06:18:13 pm
I put together a nice cocktail cab earlier today, but now I'm stuck on how
to get the monitor into it. It's a replica Ms.Pac-Man cabinet, at the moment
it's entirely empty. The monitor needs a vertical orientation.

I'm thinking that I could run two pieces of wood along the length of the
cabinet, about an inch from the top. Then somehow bolt the monitor onto
these pieces, so it rests in-between them.

Take a look at the photo below; where would I attach anything to this
monitor's frame? Its a WG9100 series, model 1891.
How are cocktail monitors normally mounted?

Cocktail monitors vary in mounting schemes. My Time Pilot mounts its monitor to a metal thingy that flips up, only takes two bolts. Jack the Giantkiller mounts to a wood frame.

In the case of yours I would screw a section of 2x4 onto that flat metal section on each side, which would allow you to make rails for it to sit on (that looks like a shelf mount monitor to me).

You will probably have to take the tube off the frame to screw the wood onto it.

Do you think this could work?
I got the bolt at the front of the monitor off and stuck a steel brace under it that I could now screw into a few wooden supports.
If I do the same for all 4 corners, do you think it'll be stable/safe enough?

That should work just fine. Looks just as strong as the factory setup that holds my Time Pilot monitor in place.
