Title: Help me with my CPS-1 SF2
Post by: DJ Silent on March 04, 2008, 01:10:50 am
Ok so I bought this full cab for 50 bucks off of craigslist. Monitor tube was blown so I hooked it up via scart (using the pinout from the jamma wiring diagram to check) and I am getting this image.

The blocking makes me think that the board is messed up, any opinions would be great. Game runs great has all sounds and characters but isn't really fun with the screen all messed up. Here's what it should look like for reference.

Looks like one of the graphics chips may be glitchy... you may be able to fix this problem by removing the ROM chips (gently!!) and cleaning the legs, and reseating the chips back in the board.

I can't stress enough how careful you need to be while doing this.  You don't want to bend/break the legs in the process.

I would try reseating them first.

I'm not sure which ones they are.  I had a similar problem (but not as bad) with my SFII board, so I just did all the chips.

use some dry electronic contact cleaner in the IC slot be4 butting the chips back in.
