Title: Rig Setup: Slower Computer w/ ArcadeVGA or faster with Soft-15kHz?
Post by: milhouse on March 03, 2008, 07:49:23 am
I currently have an AMD 1000 with an ArcadeVGA.  It works well for 80% of the time.  The main problem is that I get a fair amount of audio stutter in a decent number of games and I can't play anything "new" (Simpsons Bowling, Area 51, Operation Wolf 3 etc), and I can't use nullDC.

I also have a Dual Core 2.66-based system.  The problem with that one is that it has a PCI-X slot instead of AGP.  It is also running vista currently, which is why I can't test this (I don't think) with Soft-15khz.

I'm wondering if the loss of the ArcadeVGA is worth the performance boost from the Pentium system.  I have a Betson MultiSync 27" since I am guessing that makes a difference.  I love the output from the ArcadeVGA so I don't want to lose anything visually, but I also don't want to drop $100 on another PCI-X ArcadeVGA.

Thanks

PCIe not PCI-X

Selling your old AVGA will eat up a lot of the $100 for the new one.
